What is the cost of my application
The fee regime set out in the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act Regulations 2013, for Manager's Certificates is now $316.25 for all renewal and new certificate applications. This fee is required to be paid at the time of application. Online applications can be paid by either:
1. Credit card - this attracts an additional 1.22% convenience fee as charged by the bank.
2. Real Time Debit from a BNZ or Westpac bank account - no additional fee is charged for this service. (N.B. Other New Zealand banks are looking to provide this payment service soon)
New Manager's Certificate
What you need to apply for a NEW Manager's Certificate
- be 20 years or older, and
- have a Licence Controller Qualification (LCQ) certificate and
- be working in a licensed premises, and
- have at least 6 months experience in controlling a licensed premises in New Zealand.
What you will need to include with this application
- a copy of your photo ID. (Photo drivers licence or Passport or HANZ 18+ card)
- a copy of any visas to validate your right to work in New Zealand (if applicable)
- a copy of your LCQ certificate
- a letter from your employer or club, confirming that you are employed there.
- evidence of 6 months experience, e.g. wage slips.
Renewal of Manager's Certificate
When to apply
To RENEW a Manager's Certificate you must apply before the expiry of your current certificate. If you do not apply before your current certificate expires you will have to apply for a new certificate.
What you need to apply for a renewal of a Manager's Certificate
- have a Licence Controller Qualification (LCQ) certificate and
- be working or intend to be working in a licensed premises, and
- already have a Manager's Certificate
What you will need to include with this application
- a copy of your photo ID. (Photo drivers licence or Passport or HANZ 18+ card)
- a copy of any visas to validate your right to work in New Zealand (if applicable)
- a copy of your LCQ certificate (2012 Act or 1989 Act with Bridging Certificate)
